You require Administrator rights on your computer to install Attendee Online.

Attendee Online Version 3 is a completely new and separate product from Attendee Online Version 2 (not an update), with a new set of system requirements. Installing Version 3 does not uninstall or overwrite Version 2. If you are upgrading from Version 2 to Version 3, you need to first uninstall Attendee Online Version 2 before installing the new Version 3.

You also need to update EventPro Planner to Version 2.4.2.540 or newer.  See Chapter 1: Overview, Install EventPro Planner, Update a Previous Version of Standard or Enterprise.

If you have newly purchased Attendee Online, we recommend you install it with assistance from Support. If you have not yet scheduled an installation appointment, please contact Support.

Requirements for Attendee Online Version 3

Your computer requires the operating system Windows XP or higher.  The setup cannot be installed on Windows 2000.
Before installing Attendee Online Version 3, you must ensure that IIS (Internet Information Services) has been installed and properly set up on your computer. The process will differ slightly, depending on your operating system.  If the correct components of IIS are not installed, the Attendee Online installation will fail.

You also need the proper version of Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 installed on your computer.
Click to expand/collapse textInstalling Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0

When the Attendee Online installation begins, it will first make sure you have the proper version of Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 installed.

If you do not have the proper version, the installer will download the correct setup files to install it. After .Net 4.0 is installed, a reboot of your machine will be required.

Once the reboot has been completed, the installation should continue by downloading the necessary files for Attendee Online.

If you already have Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 installed, the installer will skip this step.

If your computer has IIS 6.0 or higher, you will also need to set up the Application Pool for Attendee Online.  You can set up your application pool before installing Attendee Online, but ensure that you have already installed IIS and .Net 4.0. If your computer has IIS 5.1, you will not have to deal with Application Pools.
Click to expand/collapse textSet Up Application Pool
1.You need to open your IIS Manager. To open your IIS Manager, go to your Start menu, and select Administrative Tools | Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. You can also access the IIS Manager from your Control Panel. From Control Panel Home, click on System and Maintenance, and at the bottom, click Administrative Tools. c.You should also change the Identity to NetworkService, as the folders will already be set up to allow the NetworkService proper access. (Alternatively, you can leave it as AppPoolIdentity, but you will then need to give the user “IIS AppPool\<app pool name>” access to the proper folders.)
d.Click OK.
5.Back in the IIS Manager, select the application pool and click the Start button under Application Pool Tasks in the right column.

a.The Site is set to Default Web Site. Whether you will be able to choose another site depends on your web server.  If your web server has multiple web sites, you can choose on which website Attendee Online will be installed.  If you have only one website, you will have to use the default.

_img1092

b.The Virtual Directory is set to AttendeeOnline, but you can change it if you wish.
c.If you run the installer on a computer with Internet Information Services (IIS) 6 or greater, you will also have an Application Pool option.  You can use the default, DefaultAppPool, but it is recommended that  you create your own application pool for Attendee Online. If you have already set up your new application pool for Attendee Online (review Set Up Application Pool above), select that new application pool using the drop-down list.  If your computer has IIS 5.1, you will not have to deal with Application Pools.

1.Default Theme: Choose the default theme (a background image and coordinating accent colors) that will appear when you first go to your Attendee Online website. Note that later, you will be able to set a different theme for each event you publish online (see Editing Online Event Information: Page Options, General).
2.Conflict Check: This setting allows you to choose whether you want Attendee Online to check selected registration items for time conflicts.  You have three options:
a.Ignore: Ignore time conflicts between selected registration items.
b.Warn: Warn registrants of time conflicts between selected registration items, but allow them to select conflicting items.
c.Error: Do not allow registrants to select conflicting registration items.  A message appears, informing the registrant that the selected item conflicts with another function. The registrant will not be able to select that conflicting item unless the other function is unselected.
3.Hide Page Footer Text: Select this checkbox if you want to hide the footer text ("Powered by EventPro Planner") on every Attendee Online web page.
1.The Display Name will be set to Main and cannot be changed.
2.Choose the Provider from the drop-down list: Access or SQL.  The type of database you use depends on your installation of EventPro Planner.  If you have the Standard Edition, you will select Access.  If you have the Enterprise Edition, you will select SQL.  The fields below will differ, depending on whether you choose Access or SQL.
a.Access: The Database will default in and you should not need to change it.  It is recommended that you use the default database. However, if you wish to change it to another database, click the Browse button and navigate to the database. If you do change the database, ensure that you set up security in the new folder so that the web site can still access the data.

b.SQL:

_img1098

_img1096

1.Select the checkbox if you want to Run in Debug Mode. If the Debug Mode is on, the program will record notes of what is occurring in a file called DebugLog.txt.  This mode is intended to help users find out if something went wrong, and to assist EventPro Planner Software Support in troubleshooting an issue.
2.Debug File: The DebugLog.txt file is stored in the same directory as the Settings files, which is automatically determined by the operating system you are using.
3.Click the View Debug Log button to view the DebugLog.txt file.
Click to expand/collapse textUpdate Table Structure

Update Table Structure is used to update the tables in the Attendee Online database, specifically for User Fields.

If you already have user fields in your EventPro Planner database, you will eventually need to run Update Table Structure, but not until after you publish an event online.  After you complete this installation, and have published your first online event, you should return to this Attendee Online Configuration window to click Update Table Structure. After you update the table structure, you will need to end your existing Attendee Online session by logging out or closing the browser in order for the changes to take effect.

8.When you are done with the Attendee Online Configuration window, click OK.
9.The Installation Complete window appears.  Click Close to exit.  If you later want to adjust the Configuration, see Adjusting Attendee Online Configuration.

_img1095

10.As noted in the final page of the installation, use Microsoft Windows Update to check for any critical updates to the .NET framework.
11.After you have installed Attendee Online, the web address you will use takes the form of http://WebServer/VirtualDirectory. WebServer is the web server on which you just installed Attendee Online.  VirtualDirectory is the name of the directory you used when installing Attendee Online, the default being AttendeeOnline.
